Wiślański Cieńków is the perfect spot for those who want to admire the beauty of the Silesian Beskids away from the crowds. A yellow hiking trail runs along the mountain ridge, as well as a section of the Cieńków Loop Trail. Here, you will also find the Adam Małysz Ski Jump and a ski resort.
Cieńków - Wisła's Attraction
Cieńków (also referred to as Cieńków in some sources) is an 8-kilometer-long mountain ridge belonging to the Barania Góra range. It separates the Malinka Valley from the Biała Wisełka Valley. Cieńków has three distinct elevations: Cieńków Wyśni (952 meters above sea level), Cieńków Postrzedni (867 meters above sea level), and Cieńków Niźni (720 meters above sea level).
And although Cieńków is covered in clearings, the view from there is enchanting. A yellow hiking trail runs the entire length of the ridge. You will also find the frequently visited Cieńków Loop Trail here.
Wiślański Cieńków is a popular place not only for its easy hiking and biking trails but also for the Adam Małysz Ski Jump, which is located on the northern slope of Cieńków. On the other side, on the slope of Niźni Cieńków, there is a popular ski resort with five trails totaling 6 km in length, as well as a chairlift and platter lifts.
Hiking and Biking Trails and the Cieńków Loop Trail
You can start your walk on Cieńków from almost anywhere. If you want to choose the longest route, you can start at the waterfall on Mała Zaporza. You can quickly reach the ski jump from the starting point, which you can visit, and at the top of the jump, in the café, you can enjoy something warm to drink and a sweet treat.
At the foot of the ski jump, the Cieńków Loop Trail begins (or ends, depending on the hiker's perspective). It runs along the ridge and leads to a cable car that takes you to the lower station. When you're down, it's just a few minutes away from being back at the ski jump stands.
Considering that you can use cable cars to reach the slopes, the Cieńków Loop Trail is relatively undemanding (about 3-4 km). At the same time, taking this trail allows you to see the ski jumps, extraordinary views of the valley, Lake Czerniańskie, and the Presidential Castle.
For hikers who find this section too short, you can continue along the ridge. Just before Cieńków Postrzedni, right behind the restaurant, there is another descent that will take you practically to the gate of the Vestina Hotel.
However, it's worth walking further towards Malinowska Skała. From Cieńków Wyśni, you'll have another almost fairytale-like view of the valley. There, you can also stop at Chatka na Wyśnim.
For the persistent hiker, not far away, there is another viewpoint - Gawlasi Groń (1077 meters above sea level).
For cyclists, we recommend an even longer route. Being near the upper chairlift station, you can ride down the Biała Wisełka Valley towards Lake Czerniańskie.
Cieńków Ski Resort in Wisła
Certainly, in the winter season, the biggest attraction due to its extensive infrastructure, groomed and illuminated trails is the ski resort located on Cieńków. The chairlift is 1 km long, platter lifts are located at the lower and upper clearings, and the ski slope invites you to winter madness. Moreover, this place has gastronomic facilities and a winter sports equipment rental. It also offers entertainment for children. Night skiing is often organized during the winter holidays.
If winter sports enthusiasts want to seek new challenges, they can easily cross the road to the "Klepki" Ski Resort.
